WATERBURY, VT. – One lucky racer chasing the 2020 New England Late Model Challenge Cup (NELMCC) presented by American Racer will have a big prize awaiting them at season’s end. The American-Canadian Tour (ACT), Crazy Horse Racing, and Port City Racecars have announced that a Port City ACT Late Model chassis will be awarded following the weekly racing program’s inaugural campaign.
The Port City chassis winner will be chosen by random draw among all drivers who sign up for the Challenge Cup by the April 24 deadline. This drawing will be held at the conclusion of the 2020 season.
This contribution by Crazy Horse Racing and Port City Racecars adds to a rapidly growing awards pool for the NELMCC presented by American Racer. The season-long point fund is now approaching $12,000 and will continue to increase as more drivers register. The season-long champion is guaranteed $3,000 for their efforts.
In addition, two American Racer tires each will be randomly awarded to two drivers who registered by the March 2 early-entry cutoff. The tire draw winners will be announced shortly.
“Having Crazy Horse and Port City join the Challenge Cup is big for everybody,” ACT managing partner Cris Michaud said. “Mitch and Judy Green from Crazy Horse are longtime supporters of New England auto racing and were a contingency partner with the ACT Tour for many years. Bringing them and Port City onboard adds another reason for drivers to go after the Challenge Cup crown. We’re sure everyone will be excited to learn who’s getting a new Port City chassis for the 2021 season!”
The NELMCC presented by American Racer is a new program to reward weekly Late Model racers in New England. Registered drivers’ 10 best results at participating tracks will count towards their point total using a special system based on finishing position, car count, and cars passed. Tracks taking part include Vermont’s Thunder Road Speedbowl, New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park and Star Speedway, Massachusetts’ Seekonk Speedway, and Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway.
Drivers have until Friday, April 24 to register for the Challenge Cup and thus be eligible for the season-ending Crazy Horse/Port City drawing. Registration forms and other information are available at www.acttour.com as well as participating track websites.
